ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- An animal rescue in Zionsville is treating a 4-month-old puppy that was severely abused and left for dead with multiple broken bones. Every Dog Counts Rescue shared Halsey's story on their Facebook page Thursday. The group is trying to raise money for her care and recovery. According to their post, there is an ongoing investigation into Halsey's case, but no details have been released at this time. "Her abuser left her with multiple skull fractures, a broken jaw, multiple broken ribs and a badly broken forearm," the rescue posted on their Facebook page. "She sat like this for days, with no help or pain relief before she was found and rescued." Halsey went in for surgery on Thursday, according to the rescue, to try to save her leg, which was broken completely in two. Because her jaw was also broken, the veterinarian had to place a feeding tube as well, so Halsey could eat and get the nutrition she needs while she heals....

“From what they saw, it did not rise to a criminal act. However, they did go out and speak with them. They take animal abuse very seriously and they will continue to monitor that,” Doraville Mayor Donna Pittman said. It’s not the first time Killingsworth said she has witnessed such abuse and she has pictures to prove it. “I notice the dogs are tied up on very short leashes a lot of the time, they don’t have water,” Killingsworth said.

NDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Authorities are asking the public’s help for information on what happened to “Justice” the dog, who was found severely burnt in Shelby County last month. He was found wandering on a Shelby County road with chemical burns all over his body on Friday, Nov. 2. A dog named Fred, who lives in Essex -- less than 100 miles from Sussex, the historic county of which Harry and Meghan were just named duke and duchess -- has catapulted to internet stardom for starting a "modern family" of his own Fred, a 10-year-old Labrador, decided to "adopt" 9 little ducklings -- and the brood is adorable. Fred is looking after the chicks at Mountfitchet Castle, a tourist attraction near the town.  When the ducklings were discovered on the castle grounds, their mother was nowhere in sight. But then Fred took them in as if they were his own. Now, the 9 ducklings love to ride on Fred's back and cuddle up to him. And because ducks need to swim, Fred often takes them to the castle's moat for a dip.  The castle is home to a number of rescued animals, but Fred is "the resident dog," the BBC reports. Assam Police seized 75 live dog meat dogs on Thursday. Most of the dogs were critically ill and near death. Dogs were dying at the Samaguri police station, and in a short time 22 of the dogs died, out of 75. Most of the dead died of the effects of suffocation and stress. The remaining survivors are being sheltered and cared for at the Guwahati PFA shelter. Police arrested four men: Raju Momin, Prakash Momin, Sanio Sangma and Paobeng Sangma. The men confessed to tricking the dogs to catch them, by feeding them biscuits laced with drugs. The men planned to sell the dogs at   Nagaland’s dog meat market.
